Felix was born in Bolo, Roxas City, Capiz, Philippines, on August 3, 1944. He led a life characterized by quiet strength, deep faith, and dedication to his loved ones.
Felix earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Education from Iloilo Science and Technology University and later completed his Master’s Degree in Education. Felix built his career as a teacher in the Philippines, preparing for a future in school administration.
After immigrating to Canada and settling in East Vancouver, he began a long career at Coast Hotels. His work ethic and dedication not only provided a comfortable life for his family but also allowed him to sponsor his mother and siblings, helping them to establish a new life in Canada.
Felix loved to learn and was an avid reader. He enjoyed working with his hands, and found joy in carpentry and woodworking. He enjoyed playing chess and spent his young adult years playing tennis. He approached life with a calm, introspective nature. Never loud, but always thoughtful, steady, and generous with those he cared for.
Felix was a true survivor whose quiet courage and will to live defined his final years. Despite being born with a heart condition and later facing multiple major strokes, kidney failure, and nine years of dialysis, he showed incredible resilience and lived much longer than doctors expected.
Guided by his strong Christian faith, he met challenges with prayer and by reading the word of God. Felix will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the values he embodied—resilience, duty, family, and faith.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and healthcare professionals who supported Felix during his final years, especially the VCH nurses at the Dialysis Unit and the Community Health and Palliative Care teams that cared for him at home and at St. John Hospice.
A visitation will be held on December 7th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ocean View Funeral Home and Burial Park, Burnaby. The funeral service will take place on December 8th at 1:00 PM at Ocean View Funeral Home and Burial Park, Burnaby, with a reception to follow.
