Mrs. Filse Decolongon

January 4, 1929 - June 13, 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Filse Decolongon on June 13, 2012 at the age of 83 years old. Born in Barotec Viejo, Iloilo, Philippines, on January 4, 1929, Filse was the third child of Filemon Balleza Tupas Sr. and Severina Barreto Vencer. After graduating high school as the class president, Filse married the late Jovito Bolinas Decolongon Sr. on July 17, 1949 before proceeding to Iloilo City College. While teaching elementary school for eighteen years, Filse raised seven children, and managed her farm prior to moving the family to Canada in 1980. Rooted in a strong Christian faith, Filse helped raise her grandchildren for the next 25 years.

She is predeceased by five siblings and her husband, and survived by her youngest sister Narra, her children Alan (Dolores), Jofi, Jovito Jr. (Elayve), Joji, Teo (Lovina), Joel (Joy), and Rey (Joy); her grandchildren, Mark (Caroline), Sharon (Michael), Ada, Alain Guy, Alan Beau, Michael, Jonathan, Joshua, David, Stella, Hana, Daniel, Matthew, Dylan, Filse Rose, Jovito III, and Jofi Alana; and an abundance of extended family and friends whom also called her "Nanay" and "Lola."
