Frances Shaffer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Frances Shaffer at the wonderful age of 103 years. Born in London, England, Frances travelled extensively during her young life settling with her parents in Ottawa, Ontario. Frances was predeceased by her devoted husband, Harold Shaffer (1979), of Ottawa. Their four children were raised in Ottawa: Stanley (Susanna Uchatius), Rhea Wohl (Ted Wohl, 1981), Dorothy, and Jayeson (Dailaan Lovell). She was the proud grandmother of Alannah Shaffer, the late Michael Wohl, (Miriam Weinstein), Deena (Wohl) Devereaux (Keith). She was the kind surrogate Grandma to Alex & JJ Edwards, Matt, Marta and Marusia and Kody. Her great grandchildren, Teddy, Hannah and Danielle Wohl and Jonah and Evan Devereaux, brought her much joy during her years and they will remember her for her wit and love. Frances was cheerful and coherent until the end. She was an engaging conversationalist, avid reader, crossword master, bridge player, and an exceptional Scrabble player. Her family will remember her as a supportive and loving person, always willing to lend an ear and give practical advice when requested.
