It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Francesco De Stefano, our beloved father, father-in-law, and Nonno, who left us peacefully on February 23rd, at the age of 79, after a long journey with dementia.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rosetta, who tragically passed away two years ago, and by his cherished son, Vincenzo, who lost his battle with cancer in 2012. While our hearts still carry the pain of those losses, we find comfort knowing they are reunited once again.
Born on January 28, 1947, in Piane Crati, Cosenza, Italy. He
courageously immigrated to Canada to build a better life. Then he met the love of his life, Rosetta and they married in April 22, 1972. Together they created a beautiful family and had 3 children:
Vince (Iola), Joe, Loredana (Sammy).
He was a hardworking man, devoted entirely to his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Alyssa, Francesco, Alexia, Dylan and Milan.
There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
To us, he was our “Mr. Fix-It.” If something was broken, we called him. If we needed help, he was there. He could fix just about anything, and would do it out of love.
He found peace in the simple things: tending to his large backyard garden, proudly harvesting his produce each year, taking long walks, breathing in fresh air, and soaking in the beauty of nature. Being outdoors brought him joy, and watching his garden grow was one of his greatest pleasures.
Dad, your hands built so much, but it was your heart that held us all together. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
May you rest peacefully.
Riposi in pace papà. Sarai sempre nei nostri cuori.
