Francesco was born in Sambiase, Lamezia Terme, Italy on February 25, 1933. Frank immigrated to Canada in 1958 by himself, leaving his parents; Pietro Amendolia and Elisabetta Mendicino, sister Maria, and brother Diego, Giuseppe and Antonio in Italy.
In Vancouver, Frank quickly used his outgoing personality to find employment at the Astor Hotel in Burnaby, starting as a busboy, but quickly moving to the role of Maître d’hôtel/Manager where he would remain until 1979, when he opened his own restaurant, Da Vinci Dining. He finished his career in the restaurant sector at Baci Ristorante in Burnaby.
Frank was vibrant, jovial and full of life, making the most of each day, and always tried to make the people around him smile by his playful and good-humored nature and courteous demeanor.
Frank will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 63 years of marriage, Giovanna, sons Pietro and Joseph (Guisella), sister-in-law Carmela Amendolia, brother-in-law Salvatore Pironaggi, sister-in-law Teresa Pironaggi, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy, Canada and Australia.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Helen's Parish on Thursday, November 3rd at 10:30am. The Entombment will follow the Mass at Ocean View Burial Park in the Grand Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Burnaby Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
