April 23, 1930 – November 15, 2020
At home, with his wife and daughter by his side on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 90 years of age. Devoted husband to Lorraine (Tsui-Yiu, née Szeto). Beloved dad to Katherine and Michael (Angela). Proud Gogo to Bryn Evans and Yeye to Serena Lee. Dear brother of Wally and Harvey. Remembered and loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also predeceased by parents Chin Fong Wah (Fawn) and Lee Hap Woon (Henry), brothers James, Alfred, William and Dave, and sisters May and Beverly.

A long-time member of the Lee Benevolent Society of Canada (Vancouver chapter), active in the Burnaby Retired Society and Confederation Centre for Seniors, and before that, with the Winnipeg Folklorama Chinese Pavilion.
Earnest and modest, Fred met Lorraine through mutual friends, and the two courted briefly in Vancouver, starting a 57-year marriage in Winnipeg that was to be filled with the most happy and lasting memories of all time. He was devoted to his ancestral family in China, BC, and ON, and strived to bring harmony and order to all his endeavours. His passion for art and music were expressed through his various hobbies of photography, Chinese brush painting and lessons on erhu, and his trusty harmonica was practically part of his everyday attire at any social gathering. He delighted in his relationship as grandfather and cheerleader to Bryn, and treasured his weekly visits and school pickups with granddaughter Serena.

My sincere regards and condolences to the Lee family. I did not know Fred except through the words of Katherine but she shared many wonderful memories of his life, with roots in the prairies and Vancouver, just like my own family.
