September 14, 1937 - February 5, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Fredy Ng, aged 87, on February 5th, 2025. Fredy is survived by his loving family: His wife of 57 years, Kwan Yee Ha, his children and their spouses: Peter (Amelia), Gerald (Michelle), Eilan (Jeff), and his eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Lucas, Nathalie, Kyle, Arielle, Jeremy, and Elliot.
Fredy was born on September 14, 1937 in the municipality of EnPing, in Guangdong Province, China. He was an accomplished athlete in his youth, competing in sports as a student in China where he also graduated as a Petrochemical Engineer. He spent most of his adult life in Latin America as an entrepreneur with his brothers and through his business endeavours he provided generously for his family and others. Fredy finally retired and immigrated to Canada in 2001 where he spent the rest of his life and enjoyed seeing his family grow and prosper.
Although he was not one known to be extremely outgoing and sociable, those who were fortunate to meet him will remember him as the type of person whom everyone would want to have as a friend: loyal, supportive, trustworthy, generous and kind. Fredy was a man of few words but when he did speak he was a great conversation partner, with his broad knowledge of world affairs always on point. His quips revealed a quick wit and clear perception of all that was happening around him. Moreover, when he felt the need to truly speak from his heart it was with relevant insight and practical wisdom as befitted the occasion.
What most defined Fredy’s life was his integrity and generous love for his family. His life is a testament to an innate dedication to be the best son, brother, husband, father and grandfather that he could be despite the tough circumstances in his upbringing and the many hardships that he encountered in life. He was never one to make excuses for anything, but quietly persevered against adversity with the unwavering mission to do the utmost for the wellbeing of his loved ones.
The strong silent type, Fredy will always be remembered not so much for his words but for his life example. He will be greatly missed but his memory will endure as a legacy of inspiration to all who knew him and love him and the generations that follow.
Please join us in the ceremony to celebrate the life of Fredy.
