I am sorry to learn aunt's death. I am sure she is up in heaven with God and there is no more pain for her and her sufferings are gone. She was a wonderful lady and loved by everyone who knew her. Aunt will be sorely missed.

We shared lots of treasurable and joyful moments together for 16 years!  I'm so grateful and honored to have you being my Aunt; I'm truly blessed and will cherish your love, warmth, care, kindness and a second home for me in Canada to enjoy your great dishes.  Your sweet and gentle smiles were always encouraging and enlightened my heart.  There is a pool of lovely memories; from the very first moment that I met you, Alice and Simon; being introduced by Uncle Bernie at your home; till the last moment by your bedside at the Lions Gate Hospital!

I'm always amazed with your wisdom and your point of views; you were indeed, my true mentor, my life coach and my personal image consultant!  I've grown up so much from all dimensions and you were the only one that always compliments me that I'm healthy and is looking fit! LOL!  I felt so grateful that I received many of your valuable gift wallets that can last for a very long time for me to use them and to accompany me all along my life!

I felt so sad to see you go but I'm glad that you have no more suffering and pain; the moment you passed away was just like you were taking a nap or sleeping.  You now rest in peace in God's arm; absolutely pain free and is living happily forever at heaven, our Holy Father's big family and home!  You'll stay in my heart and I'll miss you forever!

Alice & Simon, it's difficult to bear the loss of one that is so very dear; may you find strength and comfort and may it help to know caring thoughts are near!  With deepest sympathy to you!

Dearest Yan Pak Mo, We are deeply saddened that you have left us. We feel so privileged to have spent and shared a splendid and fabulous time with you, Alice and Brother Simon during your visit to Hong Kong in May 2011. Also Macau trip was a delight. Great family reunion, great fun with wonderful sweet memories to cherish a lifetime! You are a great host who always treated us with Chinese tea and dinner. You are the definition of an impeccable mother and mentor for Alice. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you rest in peace and embark upon a new journey to eternity and happiness. Sweet memories only bring us warm and loving feelings.  Like me, I always treasure every wonderful moment that I'd spent together with my beloved aunt - chatting, eating, shopping and even sharing our viewpoints in life.  Sharing is a blessing.  Sharing is joy.  So, I feel blessed in sharing so many good old days with my "great aunt".  Her innumerable virtues are beyond any words can say.  If life is a mission, then my aunt has fulfilled her mission in such a fantastic and successful way that she should deserve our grand applause.  
My dear Alice, "love" is a magic bond which always binds us together.  Through love, we'll never part.  Through love, "she" will continue to live in our heart.  So, the love between you and your mother will bloom and cherish forever.

In the midst of my final exams, it was hard for me to fully digest the fact that "poh poh" has left earth. 
Dearest Poh Poh, even though I've only gotten to meet you only three times in my life,  I can already tell you are the epitome of resilience. Your smiles are sweet and your love for anything and anyone is more powerful than anyone could imagine. Knowing how beautiful you are as a person , makes me happy that your journey to heaven will be evermore peaceful. 
Dearest Auntie Alice, I truly give my condolences to you and I have kept you in my prayers. Like mother like daughter, you are just as strong. Her presence and lively spirit will always be kept in our hearts forever.
May poh poh rest in peace eternally in heaven above!

Took me a few days to fully absorb how 7th auntie touched me so deeply during her last hours while still in a coma. She was peaceful and even smiled a bit, seems to be so content with everything and everyone where their paths touched. She seems so ready to start her new journey without any regrets or sorrow. She touched us so deeply and I feel blessed to have been there. We will miss and remember her forever!

Dear Auntie, I am saying good bye to you and you will be missed forever. You have demonstrated the qualities of a great mother by showing utmost care and guidance to Alice all the time. The bondage between you and Alice has been so strong and enviable. You two always love and honor each other and have so many things to share. You have great passion for people and have a fondness in beautiful things. Living with you must be great fun. Moreover, you have always showed your appreciation to the good thoughts of people around and you have been so generous and gentle to all of us. You never ceased to show interests in new things in the world and you have been able to catch up with all the upcoming trends. I am so lucky to have met you. I will always remember your smiles, your jokes, your elegance and your positive attitude towards life. And more, I will remember you as my great book buddy. Rest in peace, Auntie.

Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for your loss.  I remember the time when I was a kid I have had so much fun playing in Seventh Aunt's home.  Her positive attitude towards life always inspired people around her.  Auntie Alice and Uncle Simon, I hope all the countless good memories with Seventh Aunt that we all cherish can bring you smiles even in this time of sorrow and in the days ahead.  You and your family are always in our thoughts and prayers.

"He makes me lies in green pastures...he restores my soul...even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death... I will not fear, for you are with me. " May these words of King David comfort.  In brokenness, there is joy eternal.  In losing someone dear, heaven gains.

            Eulogy of Fun Lam
              (my sister)


She is now resting in peace and happiness
          in the Lord's home in Heaven.
She has taken a long long journey on earth of 88 years,
          with love to share in abundance.
She has climbed many mountains, forded many streams,
                   following her dreams.

It will be too long a story to tell, re-capturing those years one by one.
And it will be sad to hear again those days of tears and fears,
                   in the midst of war and roaring guns.
                   with homes completely shattered
                   by Japanese merciless bombs and cannons.
So, in this short eulogy of my sister Lam Fun,
            we will only recall those times when Life was smiling on her
            with days filled with songs, dance and fun.

                            First in her teens.
Let us then start with those golden years when she was in her teens,
            when every young girl's heart was dreaming of her prince,
            and of sitting on top of happiness and becoming a Queen.
Truly, in her young days, she was pretty, lively and charming,
            very much admired by people around her, and
            very much envied by other girls of her age.
Yes, she was a little queen in the eyes of our parents;
            and, in the hearts of her brothers and sisters,
            she was even a little bit more than a queen.
She was more like a star shining, beautiful and bright,
             in the darkness of nights.
             she was a little bird singing way up high.

                    War broke out.
But then, just when she was completing her grades at school,
             and was on her way entering university, The Japanese Invasion started and took all her dreams away.
She was however not frightened by all the horrors on the way.
Instead, the killing and miseries before her eyes, fired up her
             patriotism and courage, and made her spirits soar.
             She joined the youth army and was marching forward
             shoulder to shoulder in the national defense against
                       the Japanese  invading forces.

                         War is over.
At the surrender of the Japanese, her military services also end, and
              she joined the government in civil services.
              She built an image of a good civil servant
              by her hard work and willingness to serve.
              .

                         Return to Hongkong.
Retired from her public services, she returned to Hongkong,
              settled down, got married
              and had a fine family of her own,
              happy with a loving husband, and
              proud of a pretty clever daughter
              very much like herself.

                        Immigration into Canada.
The most rewarding part of her life came
                 when she immigrated into Canada,
                 living in the garden city of Vancouver,
                 where skies are blue, and flowers
                         blooming everywhere.
The most fascinating moments were visiting
                the numerous lakes and parks
                shimmering and shining
                like jade and gold.
The most joyful times were picking apples and
                gathering berries, from trees and fields,
                with her own face beaming red, and
                her lips smiling sweet as the berries.

                  So, with all her smiles,  let me end
                           my eulogy of my sister Fun
                  with Praises to God blessing her in Heaven
                           with loving memories of
                           her courage and her fun.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring your comfort.  Alice, we will always remember Auntie's smile, the days we were together.  We feel so fortunate to have dim sum with her about two years ago when we were in Vancouver. We will miss her.

Grief is hard, but special memories can help us cope. Alice, thanks for posting Auntie's Christmas photo. The sweet memories of opening up the surprise X'mas stocking, picking apples,going on picnics, having dim sum, watching TV and shopping together will always be cherished. Auntie's smile, laughter, tenderness and sense of humor will always be in our hearts. I miss Auntie; I am really thankful she left me a treasury of sweet memories.
