August 18, 1926 - November 14, 2012
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Trudy Wahl. Trudy was born in Camrose Alberta, one of 5 children. Trudy married Eric and the family moved to Vancouver in 1946. They had three children: Gerry; Jane; and Bruce. Eric died in 1978. Trudy met Aade Leino who was with her for 30 years but died last year.
Trudy was independent, energetic, friendly, out-going and very family oriented. She enjoyed a close relationship with her brothers Tony and Charlie Hartner and her sister Betty Currie. She was active with Aade in square dancing and liked gardening, cooking, the BC Lions (most of the time), travelling, being a home maker and Par 3 golf which she and Aade took up late in life (and yes – even a hole in one). Trudy also worked part time at Woodwards and Sears for many years, enjoying the work and the social contact. Mom was very grateful and appreciated the company of those who visited her over the past year and, her new friends at Poppy Residence.
Mom will be much missed by her children and their partners: Gerry (Jenny); Bruce (Trinda); and Jane; siblings Betty (Wilf), Charlie (Bernie); Tony; grand children Chris; Tyler; Jaclyn; and Jaime; Aade’s children (Greg and Kathy), and her many nieces, nephews and prairie cousins.
There will be a family interment this week followed by a celebration of her life, for extended family and friends, early in the new year (TBA) Donations may be may be made to the BC Heart Foundation on behalf of mom.
