Giovanni Reniero

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gianni a short two weeks after celebrating his 85th birthday. He was predeceased by his wife Rosa in 2008 and his brother Antonio. He is survived by his two daughters Teresa and Luisa (John) and grandsons Christopher, Matthew, Anthony (Anne), Mark and Steven as well as brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces in Canada and Italy. Gianni emigrated to Canada in 1956 and retired as a Vancouver Longshoreman with ILWU in 1993. During his retirement he enjoyed his passions of bird and big game hunting, gardening, playing cards at the Italian Center and dancing up a storm at many Italian Club Banquets. Special thanks to the wonderful team at Mount St Joseph hospital and to Dr Frank Canderle who provided such caring support. Viewing will be held at the Bell & Burnaby Funeral Home, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, on Saturday, December 19 from 1:30 to 3:00. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver, on Monday December 21 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice, the Italian Canadian Rod & Gun Club, the Vicentini Club or the Alpini Club.
