It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe (Joe) Candiago. Joe was born October 3, 1944 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia where his father worked for the French Railroad. Departing when the revolution began the family returned to Domegge Di Cadora, Italy. Joe began his career as a machinist in his town. Wanting more he travelled to Canada at the age of twenty to work on the hydroelectric dams in Northern BC. Landing in Castlegar with a suitcase and a few dollars, through hard work, commitment and dedication he went on to build a life full of love and success. Moving permanently to Vancouver in 1971 he married in 1972. His talents and skills were diverse as they were infinite; there was truly nothing he could not build or fix. Joe was an accomplished machinist, mechanic, carpenter, builder, and heavy-duty equipment operator. The majority of his career was spent as a backhoe owner/ operator helping to build communities and public areas. He is survived by his wife Paola, children Lawrence, Richard (Francesca) and Stephanie and grandchildren Richard, Emma, and Victoria as well as extended family and friends here and in Italy. He will be forever missed and his memory will live on in all that he taught us; both the tangible and intangible.
"Good night sweet prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
