March 30, 1926 ~ June 16, 2025
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Harry Pasquale Morfini. Harry passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the exceptional age of 99.
Harry was born on March 30, 1926, In Limerick Saskatchewan, a first-generation Canadian Italian, raised in the small town of Mossbank, Saskatchewan. When he was 18 years old, he joined the Canadian army, and was given the nickname “Pepper” because of his red hair.
Following his service in the army he moved to BC with his loving wife Edith and stepsons Robert and Gordon and began his career as an Ironworker. Shortly thereafter Edith and Harry welcomed their first daughter Jacqueline and then two years later, their second daughter Debra.
Harry was a hard worker and provider. He was the longest living member of the Iron Workers Union Local 97 and was honored many times. He took immense pride in his work and was a mentor to many young men in the field. In his spare time, he loved working on his cars and tinkering in the backyard. He had the ability to fix anything, his way.
Harry was a man that loved living, he was the life of the party and always had a colorful story to tell…and there were many. Those who knew him loved his sense of humor and quick wit. His laughter was contagious to all. Having witnessed the massive changes in the world over the course of his 99 years, Harry was a wealth of knowledge, and his family was always learning from him. Our time spent together was always a pleasure and full of excitement.
But more than anything he was an extremely kind, caring, and devoted family man. He was generous to his family, friends, and strangers alike. He hated to see someone in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was the one man you could always count on, his home and heart, open to everyone.
Harry made an enormous impact on our lives and has left an even bigger mark on our hearts. We were blessed to have him for so long, and he will be forever missed, and never forgotten.
Harry leaves behind his two cherished daughters Jacqueline (Tony) & Debra (Paul), and his devoted grandchildren, and great children who will forever miss their grandpa, Grumpy, Grumpy Bear, Grampy, as he was affectionately known to them and everyone who knew and loved him.
Harry is predeceased by his parents, Eugenio and Emilia, his sisters Mary, Fanny, Eba, & his loving wife of over 53 years Edith May and stepsons, Robert and Gordon.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday July 18, 2025, at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, in Burnaby at 12 pm, followed by a light lunch and refreshments. Harry’s ashes will then be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery to which the family has extended an invite to those who would like to join.
We welcome you to leave your memories of Harry to share with his family and friends.
