He lived for 4 years in Drunen, The Netherlands, until he emigrated in 1962 with the family to the United States.

In 1969, he followed his brother Alex to Canada. There, he went to the culinary school to become a chef. The work hours of a chef did not appease him and so he changed careers and worked for the Vancouver Transit for 30 years. He enjoyed that tremendously and made many friends. After his retirement, he would pickup passengers from the cruise ships and show them the city. He was a humorist and entertained them with his jokes and his vast knowledge of the city.He is survived by his wife Dolores Batoctoy, sons Marcel and David, daughter Veronique, grandchildren and numerous sisters and cousins and brother. A viewing is being held on Thursday, September 8th from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral home, the funeral service the following day, Friday, September 9th at 10:00am, and the burial to follow at 11:30am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
