Hilton Matthew Mason, aged 80, of Burnaby, BC, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. He was born on October 6, 1944, in King William’s Town, South Africa.
Hilton attended Rhodes University, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He had his own accounting firm and enjoyed a long and successful career. Through hard work, dedication, and professional excellence, Hilton was able to retire early at the age of 52.
A devout Catholic, Hilton was deeply involved in his parish community. He generously volunteered his time and talents, serving as Treasurer, Eucharistic Minister, as a member of the Knights of Columbus and many other committees. Outside of his faith and career, he found great joy in playing and watching golf, and he especially cherished time spent with his family.
Hilton is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Hilary, and their seven children: Debbie (Steve), Paul (Anna), Michelle (Chris), Steven (Rebecca), Chrissy (Kevin), Greg (Cherie), and Natalie (Cam). He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Gabriel, Kaitlin, Alyssa, Hannah, Jenna, Natasha, Keira, Emma, Matthew, Wynwood, and Boston. He was predeceased by his parents, Collin and Rosie Mason, and his sister, Val.
A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held in Hilton’s honor on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, 6610 Balmoral Street, Burnaby, BC. The ceremony will also be available to view live or on replay at: https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/112250
