Innawati was born in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. In 1984, she met her husband, Sonny, at a church in Indonesia where he was pastoring. Sonny moved to LA where Inna later joined. They were married in 1990 and in the same year Inna accompanied Sonny in leading the Indonesian church in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Inna will forever be remembered as a wife, mother, sister, pastor, mentor, and a best friend to many who knew her. She loved cooking, singing, drawing, arts and crafts, culinary eating, gardening, playing with dogs and taking care of her rabbits. Inna loved working with children, the youth, and also the seniors at Hawthorne Seniors Care Community, where she last worked. Serving the community and seeing others being helped brought her immense joy.
Over the three decades of residing in Canada, her generous heart made an impact on those she met, whether at church or in the community. Her contagious smile brought happiness to people of all ages. She lived her life to the fullest.
Inna was predeceased by her parents, Gunawan Bektiono and Ratna Sidharta. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Sonny; daughters, Sharona (husband, Alex) and Melody Mandagie; stepmom, Rosy Eka Christiani; 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 8 nephews and nieces.
A Closed Casket Visitation for Innawati will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC. A time of Songs and Scripture Readings will begin at 5:00 PM.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 10:30 AM, at New Westminster Christian Reformed Church, 8255 13th Ave, Burnaby, BC.
We would like to thank and appreciate the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Burnaby General Hospital Palliative care unit where Inna received the utmost care and attention.
