Born in Grimaldi (Reggio Calabria), Italy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Nonna, Irma Bonamin, on January 17th at the age of 82 years. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family. Irma was predeceased by her parents Pasquale & Annetta. She is survived by Bruno her loving husband of 59 years and their children Anna (Chris), Silvana (Doug), Nadia (Lanny), and Antonio (Susanna).
Nonna Irma will also be missed dearly by her grandchildren, Tyler, Bailey, Izzy, Henry, Nora, Elliot, Giancarlo, Savion, Ashley, Giovanni and her Great-grandchildren Jacob, Luciano and Talea.
Also mourning her loss are her siblings, Joe, Carmelina, Edda and Ivano, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; many close friends and all those who’s hearts she touched.
Mom loved her family with every fiber of her being and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, she loved to cook for them or just snuggle with them on the couch.
Mom carried very fond memories of her trips with her children, they were the highlights of her life.
Irma immigrated to Canada with her mother and siblings to join her father and eldest brother, when she was only 11, to the small town of Michel BC, before the family moved to Nelson BC. She later moved to Vancouver with her sister Edda where she soon met Dad and within two years they were married.
Her absence will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled but the love she gave will live on through our precious memories.
It is so hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 28th at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby. To live stream the funeral mass go to
