1959 - 2017
In the late hours of June 26, with his family by his side, Jim passed away at home after losing his battle with cancer. Born in Edmonton, little "Nipper" overcame multiple health challenges from birth and grew into an energetic and handsome young man. He was a skier, a fun lover, and the lady killer of his day. Jim joined the family business after studying with NADA Car Academy where he graduated as top student. Jim continued on to spearhead Westwood Honda towards its present unique amalgam of community leadership and financial success. He was always generous towards the medical needs of his community and Eagle Ridge Hospital. Chosen as Business Leader of the Year by the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce in 2011, he was a quiet humanitarian with a tender heart.
Jim loved his girls and his large extended family. Going into the hands of those gone before, Jim leaves behind to mourn his daughters Amanda (Phil) and Melanie (Bijan), and his granddaughter Quinn Rose. His children's mother, Shelagh. His siblings, Rick (Lara), Jack (Andrea) and Pattijean. His nieces Shannon, Bonnie, Amy, Jennifer, Emily, Allison, Molly, and their respective spouses. Little Lucy, Aydin, and Parker will always know of him. Predeceased by his parents, Dick and Barbara Irwin. He will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 5th 3:00 pm at St Anthony's Catholic Church (2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver).
In lieu of flowers donations to the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
