It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of James “Jim” Brenner Reid on January 12, 2026, in Burnaby, at the age of 87. Jim was born on May 10, 1938, in Vancouver and moved to Burnaby in 1960. He was a supportive husband, father, and grandfather, remembered fondly for his honesty and kindness.
Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed a variety of careers, including serving as an Industrial First Aid Attendant and working as a skilled Red Seal Carpenter. He loved sports of all kind, especially baseball, racquetball, skiing, and bowling. Jim was a straight-forward, no nonsense man who was always welcoming and warm. He cherished his lifelong high school friendships and was known for his magnetic sense of humor.
Jim is survived by Zorka, his loving wife of 66 years, and his children: Dana (Jim), Tom (Katherine), Steve (Liz), and Allison (Rick). He was a proud grandfather to Christopher, Carissa, Tyler, Ryan, Will, and Jaime. His legacy lives on through the family he loved and the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Intellectual Disabilities Society, North & West Vancouver (https://idsbc.org/).
