Mr. James Gavin Weddell

WEDDELL, James Gavin, age 53, of Vancouver, died peacefully on May 11, 2017 after a long battle with acute pancreatitis. Gavin was born in the Joe Rich Valley of Kelowna, son of the late James Murray Weddell from Joe Rich Valley, Kelowna and the late Gertrude (McLennan) Weddell of Coxby, Sask. He is survived by his husband Michael S. Ryan of Vancouver, sisters Jean A. (Weddell) Frederick and her husband Michael, and Shelagh C. Weddell, and brother Cameron G. Weddell, also of Joe Rich Valley, Kelowna. He was the loving uncle of nephew Logan J.M. Frederick and niece Savannah R. Frederick, and a nephew to Margaret (Weddell) Hine of Kelowna, Ken and Joan McLennan of Maple Ridge, and David Weddell of Midway. He was the son-in-law of Michael J. Ryan and Patricia E. (Golding) Ryan of Woburn, Massachusetts, and brother-in-law of Daniel P. Ryan and Joanna E. (Michler) Ryan currently of Kyiv, Ukraine, and uncle to Eva P. and Patrick C. Ryan, also of Kyiv, Ukraine.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in Gavin's name to the National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca While it was pancreatitis that took Gavin from us and not pancreatic cancer, this is a well-respected organization that helps in a similar and closely related field.
