Jean Kinney

KINNEY Jean (Darragh) Passed away peacefully on October 18, 2016, one day shy of her 93rd birthday. Predeceased by her husband Daniel Kinney (September 1982), her three brothers and a sister. Jeanie is survived by her children Terry (Sandi), Shirley, Marlene (Greg), Dan (Deanna), and Sandy, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother Jerry, sisters Kathleen and Mary and many cherished nieces and nephews both here and in Ireland. Jeanie was born October 19,1923 in County Antrim, Northern Ireland to James and Margaret Darragh. She met and married Daniel Kinney in Ireland and immigrated as a war bride to Canada in 1946. They settled in Vancouver and began raising their family. Jeanie devoted her life to her family. She was a mother and best friend to her children. Life's problems seemed to ebb under her support, guidance and encouragement. Her home of 63 years was a place where her extended family and friends would gather. Jeanie was independent and her mind was sharp to the end. Jeanie's faith was a source of strength. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at St. Paul's Hospital, particularly the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Ward, for the caring and comfort they provided to Jeanie. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity of your choosing. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver.
