In 1952, Joanna immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where she married Notis Zervas in 1953. She made her home in Kitsilano, where she raised her two sons, George (Vaia), and Bill (Kelly), and created a life centered around family and connection.
Her family grew to include five grandchildren-- Tommy, Fotis, Michael, George and Joanna-- and nine great-grandchildren-- Vaya, George, Leo, Matheos, Esaias, Gunnar, Astrid, Henry and Bodhi.
She loved and cherished each of them deeply.
Joanna was devoted to her home and her garden, which she tended with pride for many years. Her Fig tree became well known in the Kitsilano community, a reflection of her generosity and nurturing spirit.
In her later years, she was cared for at Foyer Maillard, where she received compassionate support.
On Monday, March 30, 2026, Joanna passed away peacefully, leaving behind many friends and a large extended family. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
May her memory be eternal.
