

Johnny Ming Lai Chong, 75, passed away peacefully on Sept 8, 2024, in Vancouver, BC surrounded by family.
Born on December 8, 1948, in Hunan, China to Quoy Kee Chong and Yue Man Chan, Johnny was a fixture of his community and faith.
Known for his heart of gold and willingness to help others; Johnny was never shy about striking a conversation with friends or strangers alike. He was an adoring husband, supportive father, and grandfather. His wisdom provided comforting guidance across generations.
He began his career in manufacturing. He then started his own renovation business for a number of years. His last role, as a school bus driver, made a lasting impact on his community.
For 47 years, Johnny was happily married to Aida Chong. They shared a special bond with an enduring love that he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his wife Aida Chong; children, Lydia Kwok (Caleb) and Adrian Chong (Zhuoxi); grandchild, Samuel Kwok; siblings, Tony Chong (Deanna), Len Chong (Susan), Linda Chan (Harvey); and numerous extended family members.
Johnny’s spirit will continue to shine on through the many lives he has touched. His love of gardening, singing, and travelling with Aida were moments he found great pleasure in; as well as his faith and the deep relationships he shared.
Family Viewing and Service
A private viewing for close friends and family will be held on Friday, Sept 20, 2024 from 7:30PM - 9:30PM
Service will take place, Saturday, Sept 21, 2024 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Burnaby BC. There will be a guestbook to share your photos and memories to celebrate Johnny’s life. Service details can also be found below.
After the service we will be gathering for a luncheon at Fortune City Seafood Restaurant 2800 E 1st Ave, Vancouver BC.
