In the afternoon of Friday, March 13th, 2026, Our Lord placed his arms around Joyce Margaret (Leyden) Geremia and carried her home. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1940, Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Franco, and survived by her son, Dino (Krista), her daughter, Daniela (Michel) and her grandchildren, Capri and Doran.
In 1966, when Joyce left Scotland, she embarked on what would become her journey of a lifetime. Joyce had not intended to make a permanent life in Canada but when she met Franco at the Harrison Hotel in 1967, they fell in love. In 1968, they married and they started a family shortly thereafter. They lived in Agassiz for almost 10 years before moving to their home in East Vancouver. Joyce dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving and supportive wife to Franco and, a caring and ever-present mother to her children. In later years, as her children grew up, Joyce worked for the Vancouver School Board and then for Marks and Spencer. Joyce could often be seen on walks around the neighborhood or gardening in the yard, always with Franco by her side.
Joyce loved her life. A devoted wife, mother and Nonna, she will forever be remembered as a strong and proud woman with a kind heart. May she now rest in peace.
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me
Every day
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me
From up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on
And never leave
(Where you are-Josh Grobin)
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 26th, 2026 at 11am. at St. Jude's Parish 3078 Renfrew St. Vancouver.
