

Mrs Katherine Chan was born in Shanghai, China on September 2, 1920, and united in marriage to Dr Harry Qui Hin Chan in 1941. Dr Chan preceded her in death on December 28, 1969. Katherine received her nursing training and became the chief medical assistant to Harry. They practiced medicine and helped the sick in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong for over 30 years.
In addition to her professional career in health services, Mrs Chan had developed to become an accomplished painter under the tutorship of a few renowned Chinese painting artists in Hong Kong. She held exhibitions in the Civic Auditorium in Hong Kong, Chinese Art Gallery in San Francisco, USA and British Columbia Art Gallery in Vancouver, Canada.
Katherine found the love of God later in life and became a member of the Waterloo Hill Church (Hong Kong) in 2003, and continued attending services in Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her eldest son, Percy, in 2015. She is survived by her daughter Sutying, son Daniel, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Although we miss her dearly, we do appreciate that she lived a full and healthy life and came close to become a centurion. She is now free and let us celebrate her life.
An inurnment for Mrs Chan will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Courtyard Estates, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, British Columbia V5G3M1.
