Kenneth William Couch

February 28, 1938 – February 17, 2025
Obituary of Kenneth William Couch
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park

On February 17th, Ken Couch peacefully passed away with his family at his side after a brave battle with cancer.

Ken was born in Grand Prairie to Gertrude Eva and William Joseph Couch. He had two brothers, Howard and Gary, of which he was the eldest. His family moved from Alberta to Burnaby the summer of 1950. Ken is survived by his wife of 65 years Patricia, who he met at the age of 20 through a mutual friend. They were engaged within 1 year of dating. He also leaves behind his only daughter Shelley and her Husband Tim; grandchildren Courtney, Alanna and Rebecca; 3 great grandchildren Renn, Harper and Wyatt; his brother Gary and his wife Heather; nieces Cindy, Lisa-Ann and Laura Lee; nephew Brad and respective families. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father and brother Howard.

Ken had a very strong work ethic and was able to retire at the age of 60. Ken and Pat had a shared love of the ocean and had many fond memories with friends and family boating, in particular visiting the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound. He was one of the founding members of Ladner Yacht Club where he was always keeping busy helping other members with odd jobs. Ken loved his grandchildren dearly and were a pivotal part of their childhoods - where he attended their sports, high school graduations and continued the same traditions he had with Shelley by taking them boating. He remained active into his early 80's regularly doing walks; Shelley often joined him. Shelley is very grateful that her girls were able to experience and enjoy the life she had growing up on the water with her parents. She is thankful for the way that he shared his passions with them.

Ken will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will remember him as a humble, kind hearted, patient, and loving man. His family will cherish the memories they created with him forever, and are relieved that Ken can now rest at peace. His family is proud of the profound impact he made in the lives of so many.

Special thanks to the staff at St Michael's Care Centre who provided Ken and his family with the utmost care and respect while caring for him.

At this time, the family is preparing a private ceremony to celebrate Ken’s life, and asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations to be made to the BC Cancer Foundation on Ken’s behalf
