Ken was born in Comox and raised in Courtenay, B.C. He attended Courtenay General Elementary, Lake Trail Junior High and graduated in 1964 from Courtenay Senior Secondary Schools.
He moved to Vancouver and in Burnaby BC attended BCIT and graduated in 1967 from the Chemical and Metallurgical Technology Program.
Ken was an avid stamp collector and photographer as well as being involved in swimming where he earned his life saving certificate, Boy Scouts where was honored as a Queen Scout, Air Cadets and DeMolay. Ken was an avid music lover especially for Elvis Presley. His first born son gave him the thrill of being born on Elvis’ birthday.
Ken is known for his generous sharing of his music, jokes and the signature use of a red pen. Ken’s working life was spent in wood products resin labs. He worked for Atlas Explorations in the Yukon and was conscripted to fight a forest fire during that time. He returned to Vancouver and worked at Forintek, a Forest Products Lab at UBC, Reichhold (Neste Resins) who transferred him to Kamloops, and Borden Chemicals which brought us back to Vancouver. Ken later joined the Commissionaires where he did security for the CRA and RCMP and retired from there June 2016.
Ken was an amazing and doting husband, a loving father and adoring grandfather. Ken is predeceased by his 1st wife Julie (1996) and his oldest son Cory (2001). He is survived by his loving wife Wenda, son Brett (Wendy), stepchildren Michael Warner (Rhonda), Marla Androsoff (Kirk) and 9 grandchildren; Avery & Zoe Pickles, Joshua Ekroth, Jonathan & Tyler Warner, Bret Shields, Cole, Alexia & Ashlyn Androsoff. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date due to Covid. Ken will be forever in our hearts and has left us with many beautiful memories.
