Loved and appreciated by all, Kwai Ling is survived by her loving husband King Cheung; daughters Rebecca Chan, Barbara Chan and Pamela Law; grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, Danny, and Gary; great-grandchildren Chris, Shanice, Incoln and Seth.
She was born on November 28th, 1922, in Hong Kong and was married to her husband King Cheung for 76 years in October 1946. She courageously raised their three daughters while her husband journeyed around the world as a seaman, serving as the captain’s butler. She was passionate in raising her grandchildren. In April 1992, she immigrated to Canada with her husband to reunite with her two daughters Barbara and Pamela, beginning a new chapter of volunteerism and exploration.
For 25 years until the age of 92, she volunteered in the community at S.U.C.C.E.S.S, helping with the monthly Evergreen newspaper distribution, and actively participated in the Strathcona Community Centre Senior Club. Not only did she enjoy the art activities but also formed countless friendships along the way. Kwai Ling grew a specific appreciation for sewing and puppet making for community performances and exhibits. Among her favourite activities before COVID-19 was the daily dim-sum adventures with King and friends. Since their retirement, they were known as a loving couple, always holding hands as they explored the Lower Mainland together. Since 2008, she became a dedicated follower of Christ, attending worship and fellowship regularly.
Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, thank you for your endless care and support. Your love and kindness will forever be held in our hearts and we will miss you greatly.
All are welcome to attend the visitation and funeral service scheduled for 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM on August 3, 2022, at Ocean View Funeral Home – Chapel (4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC). The burial will be held on August 4.
