

Ms. Lai Chiang YU was born in Toisan of Canton, China before immigrating to Vancouver, B.C, Canada in 1980. She is survived by her daughters Choi Yuet, Sarah and Yvonne; grandchildren Sonny, Phillip, Chung, Kristina and Jamie; and great-grandchildren Vanessa and Christopher.
She led a humble but fruitful life, often recognized for her conscientious work ethic and belief in preserverance as the key to success.
Her hobbies included cooking, knitting, and gardening; her most famous dishes being the Dragon Boat Festival dumplings, Chinese New Year cakes and pastries, and various soups. Her knitting products included jackets, sweaters, mittens and hats. During the summer, she planted beans, green onions, tomatoes and squashes and shared them with neighbours and friends.
She delighted in the company of people, creating and cultivating friendships throughout her life, and later on in Church alongside her family. Ms. Yu devoted herself tirelessly to the caretaking of her children and grandchildren, and has brought countless memories of laughter, warmth and kindness to all around her.
She will be fondly remembered for her many loving and caring ways, and especially for her teachings in thinking of others before oneself.
