Leonard Peter Buonassisi

March 26, 1941 ' April 07, 2009 passed peacefully in the presence of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Leonard was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Luigi Buonassisi. Much loved and greatly missed by wife Anne, sister Lucia Bondi, brothers Sam (Jeanette), Peter (Andrea), many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, many cousins in Canada, the US and Italy and many long time friends that were such an important part of his life. His absence will be no doubt be noticed by the many customers at the Hardware Store where he worked for many years with his brother Sam as well as by all the Commercial Drive residents that were accustomed to seeing him on his daily walks. We would like to thank all the wonderful people associated with his care over the past few months, Dr. Stuart and staff at the Cancer Center at Burnaby Hospital; all the Home Care Nursing staff, especially Lisa; the Palliative Care staff, especially Dawna and the wonderful nurses at St. Michael's Hospice during his very brief stay there. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church 555 South Slocan Street, Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard's name to the St. Michael's Hospice or Burnaby Cancer Center would be appreciated.
