She is survived by her loving husband, Mitsuyoshi, daughters Mari, Keiko (Mark), sons Tim (Riko), Jack (Ayako) and seven grandchildren, Winston, Leanne, Elissa, Victoria, Emily, Brett and Jennifer. Predeceased by son-in-law John.
Lily was hard working, strong willed, kind and generous.
Born in New Westminster, raised in Coquitlam Lily was interned with her family in Lemon Creek BC during the war. After the war they then went to Kyushu, Japan where she taught sewing and English. While in Kyushu she met her future husband Mitsuyoshi. They married on February 24, 1952 and moved to Tokyo. While in Tokyo she worked at the American Airforce Base in Yokota. Lily and Mitsuyoshi remained in Tokyo during which time they raised four children. In 1965 the family moved to Canada. In the 1970’s she taught Japanese cooking and sewing at Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster Continuing Education Night Schools which eventually led her to open her own cooking school.
Lily had passion for numbers from an early age this led her to establish an accounting practice with her son.Throughout her life she enjoyed travelling around the world. This included driving across Canada with her husband when they were well into their 70’s. Lily enjoyed bowling and was a member of Asahi and Kaede Bowling Leagues at Grandview Lanes for over 40 years. Lily had many friends throughout her life including her long childhood friend Ron Moyes of Ottawa. Their friendship lasted 89 years.
There is no service due to Covid. Flowers and Koden gratefully declined.
