Lina, beloved wife, and mother, passed away at age 69, at Burnaby Hospital on November 13, 2021.
Lina was born in Hong Kong on October 14, 1952, 6th of 7 children to Wai Yee Cheung (Macau) and Sun Po Wong (Ningbo, China). At the age of 15, she began working at Wing On Department Store as a sales lady. Moving up into a managerial role in her 20’s.
In 1981, it was love at first sight when she met her husband, Daniel. They wed on November 8, 1981. Soon after, they moved to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and had three children, Roy, Jassie and Sabrina.
In 1992, they settled in Vancouver, BC. Lina volunteered her time going door to door for charitable work. Eventually, she went back into the workforce and became a Supervision Aid at Laurier Elementary. She provided 13 years of service to the Vancouver School Board.
Lina loved taking photos, travelling and food. All she wanted to do in her retired life was cruise and buffet. She had a great sense of humour, a big heart and loved hosting/entertaining friends.
She will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed by friends and family.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 7455 10th Avenue, Burnaby, BC on Friday November 26 at 1pm. Due to COVID restrictions, attendees must be fully vaccinated and masks are mandatory. Reception will follow at Ocean View Funeral Home at 3:30pm.
