We regret to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Matthew and Linda Ma on Monday, August 29, 2016. They leave behind their beloved family: their daughter Melissa (Alexky Ramos) and three beautiful grandchildren, Anastazya, Annika, and Mattias, as well as Linda’s mother, Kwong Lai Kam and many other close family. They were predeceased by Matthew’s parents, Ma Tung Yuen and Ma Ho Dip Tsui, and Linda’s father, Chan Kim Wang.
Matthew and Linda were a team, in the true sense of the word, at work and at home. They met each other in the UBC Asian Studies library, Linda as a Librarian and Matthew as a student and before long they were married at Holy Name Parish in Vancouver, on July 29th, 1972. They have done amazing things as a team – they raised an accomplished, beautiful daughter, they created a successful accounting business, and they became deeply involved within their church (St. John the Apostle), education communities (Little Flower Academy) and various charitable organizations. Matthew has a daily routine of long walks and visiting his favourite Starbucks. He enjoys tennis, golf, and even a little skiing with Melissa. Linda honed her skills as a Chinese Opera singer and traditional Chinese painter when she had spare moments. Besides all of their good works, Matthew and Linda shared one important passion: Traveling south to San Francisco to visit their grandchildren every few months! They had so much joy and found so much pride in Melissa, Alexky, and the kids.
