Lucia was born in Italy, to parents Guiseppe and Casperina. She is predeceased by her husband Durante, and brother Pasquale. She is survived by son Romano, daughter Patrizia (Jay), grandson Jesse, as well as a large network of family and friends in Canada and abroad. Lucia and Durante immigrated to Canada in 1955 with little means, speaking only Italian, and were embraced by an unfamiliar culture. Together they overcame many challenges and moved across the country to settle in British Columbia. They were trailblazers. Lucia and Durate built a life from scratch, and even supported many other members of the Pavone and Castelli family on their journeys to Canada. Funeral Mass will be held from the Parish of St Jude, 3078 Renfrew Street on Tuesday October 27th at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers, donations made the BC SPCA in Lucia’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Everyone will miss Lucia’s amazing garden, her welcoming personality and great cooking.
