Maddalena Agostino

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maddalena Agostino on September 4th, 2022. Elena, as she preferred to be called, was born in Sarno, Italy on February 1st, 1935. She immigrated to Canada in 1971, where she was married the same year and remained a resident of the greater Vancouver area for over 50 years. Elena is survived by her sons, Remo (Anna), and Marco, and her brother Carmelo (Ella), and sisters Concetta, and Maria (Angelo). She was predeceased by her husband Frank, and brother Aniello (Michelina). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Dante, Tommaso, and Julianna who cherished her love, generosity, and compassion. Elena lived a long life and remained independent, self-sufficient, and a free spirit to the end. Family was paramount to her and she was selfless with her time and sacrifices to provide a lending hand to those that needed it. She enjoyed being an avid walker frequenting the local community, and visiting family and friends. Although Elena is no longer with us, she will never be forgotten by everyone she touched with her love, kindness, and presence. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00pm on Monday, September 12th at Bell Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13th, at 12 noon at Our Lady of Our Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver with entombment to follow at the Abbey Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.
