I have so many wonderful memories of Madelaine but the one that sticks out the most was when she and Fred took care of me for a weekend when I was about 9 years old in the early 1970s. My parents, Tommy & Moira Black went away to a dance competition and they made me feel so special, welcomed, and loved. I don’t remember missing my parents at all that weekend but what stands out to me all these years later is the love that they showed me. Thank you Madelaine for being like a second mom to me growing up in the dance world.

Dear Madeleine, you were a wonderful friend, so caring and smart,  funny and honest.  Thinking of many Saturday evenings with you and Fred at Vancouver Ballroom, dancing and talking.  At the Grand Ballroom, we watched you dancing so beautifully in the competitions.  You were always "Miss Elegance" even at weekend brunch.

Grandma,   as other's have said, our family dinners, bbqs birthday parties, and holidays are not going to be the same without your radiant smile, warm embrace and joy of being together .  A true matriarch in every sense of the term.  Grandma you are, and will be truly missed.  Julie & I feel blessed our boys both got to grow up knowing you as well, and getting their own stern but loving advice from her at Sunday dinners, as Jennifer and I did when we were kids.    Grandma always took such incredible pride coming to "inspect" our factory, making awesome suggestions and asking  incredible questions, knowing a lot of what we were going through from her time at Simmons.     I know Julie and you shared a special bond that made me so proud as your grandson to see you both connect so lovingly  with each other.  Hudson & Leo always thought it was so cool that their Great Grandma & Grandpa came to their sports & events.    .  We love you, and miss you always,   Jason, Julie, Hudson, Leo & Caesar

I wish the most sincerely condolence to the MacTaggart family in losing a love one.  While I never was a competitive dancer, I always remember Madeline as a high level dancer that was willing to dance with beginner dancer like me.  May God bless the MacTaggart family to get thru this tough time.

Grandma -   Your smile brightened a room and your zest for life was unmatchable.  Family gatherings won't be the same without you, your sound advice and lessons on good manners won't be forgotten.  
 As a child,  I have fond memories of Boxing Day in the basement at your old house, it was one of my favorite days of the year.  I remember looking up at your  ballroom dresses hanging from the ceiling, thinking how beautiful they were and how I wished I could one day dance like you. 
More recently,  how lucky we were that my children could spend time with their Great Grandmother.  The kids were always so excited when Grandma and Grandpa would be joining us at family dinners and they were so proud to give you a home made bracelet or card.

Rest in Peace Madeleine. Heartfelt condolences to Fred from Ichu and me. They had been making milestones in the history of ballroom dancing in Vancouver when we first started dancing. They were present in every major ballroom competition for decades. If they were not dancing themselves, they were handing out trophies and prizes.

I have so many beautiful memories with her.

Fred and Madeleine were former BC Senior Standard Champions and members of the BC Amateur Association for over fifty years. They have been, and will continue to be, outstanding role models for dancers young and old, both on and off the dance floor. Wendy and I will treasure our wonderful 40 year friendship with Fred and Madeleine, from idolizing them as mentors, to attending their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries, to that unforgettable road trip all the way down to Tijuana, Mexico, enroute to an LA dance competition. 

Goodbye, dear Madeleine. We will always remember you.

Gramie had such poise and grace. I will always appreciate how she made me feel welcome in the family. 

I remember Gramie always having high expectations of herself.  She always had the most beautiful hair, her dresses were perfect and she had a trophy case to show her prowess on the dance floor.  After all, while most 80 years are content to ride a wheel chair, Gramie wouldn’t settle for anything less than a horse she had just met. 

To my Mum who was an important part of my life for as long as I can remember.  Glenn and I will forever hold you in our hearts and will take joy from all of our memories that we will always cherish.
