With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and nonno. He leaves behind the love of his life Maria, his son Silvano (Marisa), daughter Adriana (Gary) and his two grandsons Gianluca and Claudio.
He was born in Monte Di Malo, Vicenza, Italy and was one of seven children and immigrated to Vancouver in 1965 where he met his soulmate of 56 years. Marcello took great pride in his work as a cement finisher and his work can be seen throughout the city. He loved working in his garden and enjoyed sharing his harvest with friends and neighbours. He took much pride in announcing that the vegetables we were eating came from his garden. He also love to spend his time in the flower garden and lounging under the fig tree. He spent a lot of time playing cards with his friends at the Italian cultural centre.
Marcello’s family was always the most important part of his life and the weekly family dinners would be a highlight for him. He also cherished the many trips he would take to Italy and never forgot his roots. Religion was also a very big part of his life, in particular to the Virgin Mary.
He touched many peoples lives and most people will remember his catchphrase that he’d say “Must be nice to be young eh”
He will also be greatly missed by his siblings, nieces and nephews in Italy and all the people that knew him.
Marcello, may you rest in peace under the cloak of the Madonna Di Monte Berico.
