Margaret was born on July 24, 1930 to Thomas and Jean Connon as the second youngest of 11 children. In Winnipeg, Margaret spent her childhood skating the Red River and dominating the standing broad jump at picnics. She met her husband, Walter Evans, and after he proposed at a drive-in movie, they were married in 1951 in Ontario. Greg was born shortly after, followed by Judy and Ray. Following a move to British Columbia, Sheila and Cymantha were born to complete the family. “Marg” made good friends in the neighbourhood wherever she moved, on account of her sense of humour and penchant for a good drink! Despite the distance, Marg remained close friends with her sisters, Alice and Hazel. Anytime the three reunited, shenanigans were sure to ensue. “Auntie Marg” will be missed dearly by her family in Winnipeg.
She was quick-witted, stylish, giving, and kind. Later in life, Margaret found joy in crosswords, reading, daily walks, and admiring the flowers and birds in her garden. She loved watching sports on TV, especially hockey, curling, golf, and football. She claimed to have never said no to cake in her entire life.
There aren't words to describe how missed she will be by her surviving children Judy (Tony), Ray, Sheila (Peter), and Cymantha (Sunny). “Granny” will be remembered fondly for her playful spirit by her grandchildren, Trevor (Angie), Colin (Jen), Ben (Amelia), Jerome (Abby), Lindsay (Michael), Faythe (Derek), Jordan, and four (soon to be five!) great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Greg and husband Walter.
The family would like to thank the caring staff with Fraser Health for their kind support during the last two years.
