April 4, 1927 – April 29, 2026
Marguerite (Marg) Campbell passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at the age of 99, surrounded by love.
Marg was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Ernie (“Parky”) and Freda (Evans) Parkinson, who predeceased her, as did her infant brother, Thomas. She attended King Edward High School and went on to the University of British Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor of Social Work. Her career with the Provincial Government culminated in her role with the Corrections Branch of the Ministry of Attorney General. In 1982, she retired as Local Director, Probation and Family Services at Vancouver Family Court—the first woman to hold that position.
Marg often said that some of her happiest years were spent at university, where she joined Gamma Phi Beta and formed lifelong friendships. She remained close not only with her friends, but also with their daughters, whom she had known since infancy.
An active and social person, Marg enjoyed many athletic pursuits throughout her life. She was a member of the Vancouver Lawn Tennis Club, where she continued playing tennis into her fifties, and a founding member of the Arbutus Club, where she skated regularly. She also played golf and in later years, she stayed fit through Aquafit.
In 1969, she married George Campbell, who predeceased her in 2002. Together they shared a happy retirement, enjoying travel - especially cruises. After George’s passing, Marg remained in the family home for several years before moving to independent living in West Vancouver with her beloved dog, Nino, who also predeceased her. There, she continued to enjoy time with friends and family, walks along the seawall with Nino, and spirited games of cutthroat bridge.
Marg will be lovingly remembered by her cousins, the Parkinson family in Ontario; her stepdaughters, Alix Campbell and Kim Campbell (Hershey Felder); and her honorary daughters: Marilyn, Carolyn, Barb, Annie, Janie, Susie, Tammy, and Tracy.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at North Shore Hospice for their compassion and support in Marg’s final days.
The song is ended,
But the melody lingers on.
