Maria Elizabeth Zsigray

Maria was born on March 8, 1925 in Kassel, Germany. Maria immigrated to Canada in 1955 with her husband and two daughters. She worked as a cleaning lady in Montreal and later worked as a Care Aid in the Montreal General Hospital. Throughout her life Maria always cared for the elderly.

Maria loved to dance, garden and travel. She travelled to Japan, Cuba, Mexico and Europe.

She was a master of the domestic arts. Maria was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed sewing and doing needlepoints. She could mend an item and you wouldn’t know it had been mended.

Maria loved her family. She was so very proud of her family! She was a hardworking, strong, independent and very generous woman.

Maria is survived by her daughter, son-in law, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all of whom will remember her dearly. Maria has left behind lasting memories that will make each of us smile when we think of her.

Ocean View Funeral Home in Burnaby BC has been entrusted with arranging a Celebration of Maria’s life on June 16, 2017 at 1:30 pm in The Chapel.
