Sawchuk, Marie – Born in Kwasowa, Ukraine on June 20th, 1929 – Passed away peacefully in Burnaby, British Columbia on June 12th, 2011. Marie Sawchuk, beloved wife of the late Fred. Loving mother of Beverly Davidson and Debbie Dalla Benetta (Carlo). Fondly remembered by her 2 grandsons, Nicholas and Steven, and predeceased by her beloved grand daughter, Katie. Marie will be sadly missed by her 2 sisters, Helen Pashko and Kathryn Szpunarski, her many nieces and nephews, family and friends. A Prayer Service will be held at Holy Trinity Ukranian Orthodox Cathedral, 154 East 10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC on Thursday, June 16th, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral on Friday, June 17th, 2011 at 1:00 pm with a luncheon to follow. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the 5th Floor Nursing Staff of Burnaby Hospital for the care shown to Marie. Flowers gratefully declined, rather a donation in Marie and Katie’s memory may be made to the BC Children’s Hospital.
