Marion

Marion had a firm conviction that she would be with Jesus when she finished her life here on Earth.

 It’s clear from the preparations for this day and the notes she left
 that she wanted us speak of this hope during this celebration of her life.

Not all of us believe in the afterlife as Marion did. 
But believing something,  and knowing something to be true are two different things.
Belief, especially about things like life, death, and the universe, are usually about what we want to be  true. 
Knowing is what we get when we encounter or experience reality itself. 

EG: ---- Your belief about skydiving after being trained is not the same thing at all as knowing about skydiving after your first jump. 

Marion’s belief about Jesus Christ was founded on a lifetime of experiencing his love and faithfulness. 

From Psalms 100

 Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
 -------
    give thanks to him and praise his name.
 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations.


Many who don’t believe in a supreme being instinctively call out to God when faced suddenly  with dying. 
Similarly even people who believe that death is the end - 
The switch that turns out the light of our minds - fear death, and think of it as deep wrong.    
Why?    
In quiet and isolated moments, when we look inward we have a distinct sense of self that is independent of our age. 
At 10, 20, 30 and 50, I am the same self, perhaps more mature but it’s still me. 
My nature and yours is timeless.
 Fear grips us when we think about our ultimate death because it seems so wrong that we who are timeless should come to an end. 

For Marion there was no fear, 
For her the certainty of her eternal nature met with joyful knowledge that she belonged to Jesus and would be with him after her death. 
For Marion death was not a final end but a dramatic transition.

It is with a heavy hearts that we offer our condolences to each one of you. Marion was very dear to us and we loved her and thought of her in so many ways; as a mother, a grandmother to our children, and a very dear friend.She truly was one of a kind. We will miss her greatly! Marion had a very unique quality about her, knowing how to make you feel very special in her presence and giving you her undivided attention, care & love. Not only to adults but to the children, she was always engaged with them as well. Marion was very kind, independent, knowledgeable and wise. She always offered sound advice, which we always appreciated. Marion always remembered your birthday and sent birthday cards and enclosed lotto tickets, hoping someone would win the big jackpot someday. She never realized that the big jackpot, was truly being blessed to have had her (and Bernie) as one of the greatest devoted friends more like family to us that one could ever have in their lives. We will always cherish the times together with our families in Gibsons, Whistler, Birch Bay and the Fraser Valley, so many wonderful memories. We will keep you all in thoughts and prayers at this time as we know it is a period of adjustment. May you find comfort in your cherished memories of Marion, for she truly was a beautiful gift to us all. May she rest in peace.
