Mary Hucul

Hucul ' Mary (Maria Pepe). Our beloved mother passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Cherished and much loved by her children Helen, Paul (Cecelia), David and Francis. Maria (Mary) Pepe was born in Cancellara, Italy on February 12, 1921 to her two loving parents Domenico and Angela Maria Pepe. In 1929 Maria, her mother Angela Maria and her beloved brother Canio (Carl) Pepe came to Vancouver from Italy to join their father and reunite as family for the rest of their lives. In 1941 Mary married her loving husband and our dad, Michael Hucul, on July 19, 1941 and they were married for 62 years before his passing in 2003. They loved their 4 children dearly. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her dear husband, Michael and her brother Carl (Canio). She also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews grandnieces, grandnephews and friends whom she loves dearly. We would especially like to thank Doctor Karen Stancer for providing Mom with a loving physician's healing care for many years. Also a special thanks to our kind relatives, friends and medical personnel at St. Paul's, Vancouver General and Holy Family Hospitals who accompanied and supported our mother on her last journey. Mary (Maria) was a loving, caring daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. Her life can simply be described as a woman who loved God, the Church, her family and her friends.

'Do not cry for me because I will look upon you from heaven. I always loved you when I was with you. Now I love you even more and will always pray for you. I will wait for you beside Jesus.'

Prayers will be offered at 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Father Eugenio Aloisio celebrant. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak, Burnaby followed by a reception in the St. Francis of Assisi Church Hall at 1:30 pm.
