Mary was a loving mother, an exceedingly kind and generous woman. She was determined, well studied, and accomplished so much in life. As a strong woman, she never complained how difficult the tasks may be. She never feared any challenges.
She lived, studied and worked for over 50 years in Canada with the last 40 years in Vancouver BC. Mary worked as a legal assistant for an MP in Vancouver Chinatown for several years before joining the University of British Columbia working as an Administrator for the School of Nursing.
Mary was a single mom who raised two beautiful daughters. She overcame hardships and accomplished what she wanted for herself and daughters. She worked tirelessly to support them, provide safety and stability and fill their lives with love. She retired from UBC around 2015 and was able to enjoy life doing what she loved. Gardening and singing Cantonese Opera were two favorite hobbies that Mary enjoyed the most. She always took pride in her garden at the house and made sure it was well kept. Through her singing groups she made many close friends and gave several performances at the Chinese Cultural Center and Michael J. Fox Theatre.
In early 2023, Mary was diagnosed with cancer. She bravely continued to battle this illness with the wonderful support and treatment from the doctors at BCCA and her family doctor. Unfortunately, she departed too soon, but her family finds solace that she is now in a better place and at peace. She will forever remain in our hearts. And we will miss her very much.
