We will miss our lively neighbour! From the day we first moved in here  in 2010, she was always so welcoming, and friendly. 
Her spirit and youthfulness was always very energizing. She was funny, thoughtful, and kind. This floor just isn't the same with you gone Mercede. Rest in Peace my dear.

Aunt Mercedes will be dearly missed.  Her calls from Vancouver were a bright spot.  She always remembering our birthdays and other occasions, she even called me on Father's Day.  I will always remember visiting with Mercedes and family on my first trip to Vancouver a few years ago. Sending all our love and condolences to the family.  She was one of a kind.

Mercede, your kindness was a light that never dimmed, a warmth that wrapped around everyone lucky enough to know you. Every time you were near, I felt not just welcomed but cherished, as if I were your own. Your presence was more than just a moment in time—it was an energy that embraced space and hearts alike, leaving an imprint that will never fade. Though life has moved forward, your memory lingers like a gentle whisper, a guiding force in my heart. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your mother.Although I didn’t know her for long, the time we spent together will stay with me forever.
Mercedes  was a ray of warm, bright energy. During our walks along the Quay, she would talk to the children we met along the way, express joy at seeing new flowers, and was eager to learn their names. At the end  of our walks, we would visit the River Market, where she often bought a lot of vegetables, always wanting to ensure she had  enough food in case family members came to visit.
When I visited her during her final days in the hospital, she asked me to show her a beauty of outside world. I took the picture from the window and showed it to her, , and her eyes lit up with happiness.
She was a person full of love, cherished by many and loving in return.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate her remarkable life.

For most of our childhood years grades 1  -7  at Clinton  Elementary  in Burnaby,  I would head to Peter’s house so we could walk to school together. One winter morning I will never forget. The Skokan’s had a little white poodle named  Ginger. She was always excited to greet guests. One morning there was a huge amount of snow that had fallen overnight. When I arrived, and was heading up the back stairs, the door flung open, and Ginger ran out to say hello. She was not aware of the foot of snow on the back porch, and slid straight across landing 8 feet below in a powder of snow. It was such a site. Poor Ginger was buried in the snow, and blended right in. Through all that Ginger maintained her excitement, but was clearly shaken.  Mercedes called “Gingeray, Gingeray”. It was something I will never forget.

A cherished memory from my memorable first and still only visit of Canada and the Noth American continent in the June of 2010. Mercede has invited me to visit, fed me with great food and acquainted me personally with ther Canadian Skokans.

Aunt Mercedes, you were my life long cheerleader and my world will be a little dimmer without you in it. You moved to Vancouver when I was a little girl but I always felt you were near and I knew that you loved me and my family. I am grateful for the relationship we had. I will miss your phone calls so much and I will miss you forever. Xo

My father Richard Bagordo and I want to extend our deepest sympathies to all the Skokan family, for the loss of Mercede. Distance kept us apart but she had the kindness to call us regularly and share her simple wisdom of embracing what makes you happy in life. 
I am glad I got to meet her and speak to her before she moved on. 
My father spoke of his many wonderful memories of her.

We hold dear in are Hearts, the many memorable visits, that you blessed us with (to Montreal). As the supper table antics , were PRICELESS.  We were always excited when you stopped in. I know John. Alec,& Rowena are waiting for you, for that reunion supper in the sky.

My Dearest Zia …  You are one Special Lady who is so hard to let go, l miss you so ... I love you not only  as my precious aunt, my friend , but also as my second mom… I remember when you taught me how to dust properly when l was a little girl, and never use the same utensil when picking out pickles from different jars, which even to this day l forget and think of you. .. l found this poem and thought of you. Though there are no words that can describe how much you meant to me and how sorry l am to be unable to attend your funeral , it gives an idea how l feel and how you are always in my heart and my mind singing “ Che Sarà Sarà 🎵… Whatever will be, will be 🎵… and when we end our phone calls … “Arrivederci  Roma ‘...

We are deeply saddened by the loss of your mom whose present enriched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her Incredible life serves as a testament to the kindness and love she generously shared with all of us. Though her absence leaves a avoid that cannot be filled. We cherish the beautiful memories and the legacy of her compassion she left behind. Her spirit will continue to inspire us every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time she will profoundly be missed, but her remarkable impact on our lives will never be forgotten.She loved to cook for everyone and shared her passion with myself and I will always remember her first recipe which was lasagna she shared with me everyone raved on how delicious it was and asked how it was made. She shared the recipe with me and I will cherish it along with other recipes. She was a wonderful cook and would cook up with storm for anybody that visited her right to the end she love to make everyone feel welcomed with stories ,food and wine. she will be missed by everyone she  touched. Mercede, There are so many wonderful things about you and you have touched so many lives... I won't have near enough space here to express it all...where does one begin? It was always a joy to be around you... you made your home a very welcome place for friends and family. It was a common theme in your home to be smelling the aroma of freshly made coffee and enjoying a tasty treat that you made from your vast number of recipes! I remember your blueberry pie that you personally made for me! You being so kind-hearted and down to earth. A great conversationalist you were! I will always remember how we used to reminisce the former years when life was different...how I miss those days! I have thousands of memories of funny and wonderful moments of you and it was fun to talk about them with you...and they all live in my memory. You were always ready to give good advice along with good ol' common sense approach and I am sure that you helped so many who came across your path. Always a smile and a positive outlook. Everyone who met you, loved you. You left an impression on them and left them with something of value to remember. You were a devoted mother who worked hard and always stood by her family. You always maintained a healthy balance in life and found the time to travel and make new experiences. Your life resume is chalk full! Awesome! My mom and dad were the best of friends with you and John. And now, you're all together again... waiting for the rest of us to eventually arrive! I love you all so very much and although I know Mercede you are now in a MUCH better place than here, but I am going to miss you so much... we all are going to miss you very, very much. Mercedes was always there for my family at all times and circumstances and she was always full of joy and enthusiasm.

Together with Mercedes and Romana I met what is a true friendship and the moments shared together were wonderful between Italian Songs, beautiful poems and dances. Joy was always around themAnd that today they continue to enjoy together.🌹

Mercedes always made me feel at home, she always advised and gave me strength to face my situations. She always knew what I was going through and what I was feeling.
