Colleen was 1 of 9 children born to Ellen (Eleanor/Nellie) and Alexander (Sandy) Sim on October 20, 1928. Together with her mom and dad and several of her siblings she moved into the family home at 8207 Joffre Avenue in Burnaby in 1952, where she lived until September of 2016. Colleen is survived by her eldest sister, Marion Brown, who currently resides at Royal Arch Masonic Senior’s Home.
Colleen was a registered nurse who began her career working with patients and later moved into an administrative role at Vancouver General hospital. She retired from VGH in 1986. She was a Master Gardener and volunteered at VanDusen Gardens for many years. Colleen was a strong advocate for education and generously gave financial help to family members, assisting them in achieving their career goals. Many of her nieces and nephews spent happy holidays at the family Pender Harbor cabin under Colleen's supervision.
Colleen’s ashes will be interred at Ocean View Cemetery on Joffre Avenue near the home she lived in for so many years.
