

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Monique Guérin at the age of 68. Monique passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the Burnaby Palliative Care Unit with her devoted sisters by her side after a long and courageous battle.
Monique was born in Leiden, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1966. Monique is predeceased by her beloved parents: Jules Guérin and Anne Guérin. Survived by her devoted sisters, Brigitte (husband, Steven) and Desiree. Wendy Guérin, (widow of Jules), her beloved cousin Grace.
treasured nieces and nephews: Ashley (husband Dan, children Jade and Ethan), Cody, Dillon, Hayden, (husband Brayden) Great nieces and nephews: Maleah, Delilah, Korbin and Edison. Relatives in the Netherlands.
And her faithful loving companion whom she adored, her dog Viggo.
Monique had a deep passion for travelling and explored many parts of the world. She also loved art, ballet, concerts, and gardening. Being in nature brought her great joy, especially during her daily two-hour walks with her beloved Viggo. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family as well as many diverse and deeply valued friends.
Monique will be remembered for her kindness, immense generosity, quirky sense of humour, her genuine caring for others, and enthusiastic culinary appreciation. She had a grateful and positive outlook on life. She was fun-loving, sensitive, and ever so groovy.
Monique’s beautiful soul will never be forgotten, she will always live on in our hearts.
Monique's sisters, Brigitte and Desiree, wish to express their deepest gratitude to everyone at the Burnaby Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Your compassion and care made us feel truly like family during this difficult time. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
Thank you to the many many visitors, we were grateful to see each and everyone. A special thanks to Cheryl Olsen for her frequent visits and care and a very special thank you to Paula Spencer for visiting every day, holding Monique's hand and bringing her beloved Viggo.
Celebration of Life to take place at Ocean View Funeral home in Burnaby, date to be announced.
