

October 2, 1913 - February 20, 2014
Dr. Norman Sproul passed away at home on February 20, 2014 with his daughter by his side. He was born in Chatham New Brunswick on October 2, 1913, the youngest of 7 children to Dr. George Jasper Sproul and Janie Amanda Sproul, nee Searle. In December, 1941 he married Marjorie Campbell Armitage from Deseronto, Ontario. He graduated from University of Toronto
Faculty of Dentistry in 1943. He served in the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1946 rising to the rank of Captain. Following the war he opened a dental practice in Kingston, Ontario. He was awarded the Queen’s Silver Jubilee medal in 1977 for his contribution to geriatric dental care. He retired to Vancouver in 1986. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and world traveller. He loved the outdoors and his family. He was predeceased by his parents, siblings and his loving wife, Marjorie. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Jane Sproul who will miss him dearly and by nieces and nephews. He was loved by his many friends and relatives for his quick wit and intelligence which remained with him to the end. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. We would like to thank the many care personnel who assisted in his final days and Dr. Duncan Miller who looked after him for years. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
