It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Osvaldo Russo at the age of 85. Surrounded by loved ones he took his last breath on Aug 25, 2023 at Mount St. Joseph Hospital.
Born on May 27, 1938 to Adelina and Nicola Russo, he was the youngest of 5 children following his siblings Domenico, Evelina, Orlando and Adriano. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Teresa his daughter Adele (Elio), son Tony (Valerie), grandchildren John-Luca, Joshua, Nicolas, Emilie, brother Orlando (Nunziatina) as well as family dogs Jack and Enzo who loved him very much and were at his bedside at his passing.
Much gratitude to the many family and friends who visited him during his last 10 days in hospital. He so loved seeing you all.
Osvaldo was a dedicated family man. He was a very knowledgeable and skilled woodworker and Jack of all trades. He loved sharing his knowledge with anyone who needed a helping hand. He also had an immense love for music, travel and social gatherings.
We would like to thank all the amazing nurses from Mount St Joseph Hospital who took such good care of our Osvaldo in the last year. Also much gratitude to all the Evergreen staff, VCH, private caregivers, and nurses who came to his home and showed him much compassion and support. Also thank you to Drs. Stahl and Raj, Dr. Mackenzie at BCCA, Dr. Leone and Dr Sall who helped him immensely in his last few years.
Osvaldo will be greatly missed and will live forever in our hearts!
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6:30-8 pm at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Home, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mount St. Joseph Hospital or the Red Cross.
