passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2021 at the age of 73, following a two-year battle with oral cancer.
Born in Vietnam in 1947, Raymond grew up with eight siblings. He, with his wife and children, immigrated to Vancouver in 1984. Landing in Canada with next to nothing, Raymond and his wife worked endlessly over the years until they eventually earned enough to build a family business from the ground up. He was an early riser and the hardest worker, the kind that quietly kept going and never complained. He was also a man of integrity, the kind that earned everything he ever had and never took what wasn’t earned. He was as generous as the size of the ocean, giving to others even when he didn’t have much. He was funny, randomly cracking a joke when you least expected it. And he was a man well-loved, making friends and touching hearts everywhere he went. But of all his strengths and achievements, he always said the greatest of all was having his three children. He was great at a lot of things… but he was the best at being Dad.
Raymond also had a big heart for everyone else in his life. Over the many years, he had collected photos of every special occasion, big or small, with family and friends near and far. Young at heart, he loved being in the midst of his children’s house gatherings, having a drink and telling stories to their friends who loved to listen. He also had a kind heart for animals, and adored his two dogs who he enjoyed preparing meals for every day. Raymond enjoyed cooking, traveling, shopping, and the liveliness of events and crowds. Needless to say, he enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, and children, Sylvia, Ken, and Sandra, and four granddaughters.
A special thank you to those who had kindly reached out to send their condolences, flowers, and for sharing their fondest memories of Raymond. He is loved by many and will live on through our memories and in our hearts.
