Rodolfo "Rudy" Giulio Pagliaro

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodolfo Pagliaro, a devoted and loving husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle and friend. Rudy passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family including his 7 grandchildren on August 19, 2020. Rudy is survived by his children Filomena (Tony), Fortunato (Susi), Claudia (Michael), his grandchildren Jennifer (Shawn), Nancy (Denis), Jason (Kari), Stephanie, Michelle, Danielle and Marcus and his great-grandchildren, his little cookie crunchers who he adored, Ariana, Ryan, Olivia, Sienna, Marco, Stefano and Sofia.

Rudy was born on December 10, 1936 in Cleto, Cosensa, Italy. He was the fourth born of 8 children to his parents Fortunato and Filomena. Rudy moved to Canada in 1956 and married the love of his life Clementina, they were married for 61 years. They were blessed with 4 children, Filomena, Fortunato, Elsa and Claudia. It brings the family peace that he is now reunited with his beloved Clementina and his baby girl Elsa. Rudy is known for his integrity and honesty and his willingness to always help those who needed it. His passion for many years was his magical Christmas light displays, raising thousands of dollars for the Leukemia Research Fund and BC Children’s Hospital, matching each donation dollar for dollar. Rudy dedicated over 40 years to his career at Sun Life of Canada where he built a successful business based on his strong moral compass, gaining the trust of those in the tight knit Italian community and beyond. Rudy worked hard and smart finishing at the top in sales in Canada for the majority of his career. He was a true mentor instilling the same drive into his kids and grandkids and had so many others come to him for advice and his wisdom. Rudy was a true gentleman and protector, always putting his family first, we are honoured and blessed to call him our father and nonno, the legacy he created will live on for generations to come.

Visitation will be open to the public and follow strict social distancing protocol and will be held on Sunday, August 30 from 4-6pm at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Rudy’s honour may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
